Artist's Comments

A belated present for ~skydestinies. She & I have the exact same birthday. So, clearly we're twins. And clearly I needed to draw my separated-at-birth-twin a 21st present. :) (Happy birthday, my lovely!)

This is her gorgeous character, Vanilla/Vanille. I've always wanted to draw her but never got around to it. Alas, she's supposed to be a coy & sweet, but it seems I've interpreted her as a vampire socialite/fashionista..?

It was meant to be a speedpainting but I clearly got carried away with it. Some parts are rendered wayyy more sharply (ie. her face) than others (ie. everything else) because I swear to god I have Painter's ADD or something. And ooh man, I know there are heaps of mistakes/inconsistencies! My excuse is I did this at 6am, harhar? I promise to fix them up.

This was really therapeutic, though. The colours are just so soft/gentle & I loved making this all girly 'n pretty like. Ruffles & lace & ribbons ohohoho my.

EDIT; Changed the colours a bit. She seemed a bit too jaundiced for my liking. Also felt the creamier/textured background works better. More to change later (per all your crits ).

EDIT2; Tried to address all the crits: rendered her arms/torso/dress in a little more detail, adding deeper shadows. Made her expression a little more pronounced.

This is really beautiful. The soft lighting, the texture, everything is just really smooth and easy. Her pose is so natural and relaxed, but the tilt of her eyebrows suggests attentiveness, as does the thoughtful twirling of a lock of hair. It bothered me at first, but I've decided I actually like the way the breasts and arms are sort of less focused and detailed than the hand and face. It draws attention to the more dynamic, expressive features. She looks as if her hips are just a little off kilter, swaying maybe, very sexy. I like the pearl tone of everything, especially the way her hair some how stands out against the background even though it's practically the same colour. The hair looks delicious, like one of those swirly dip-cones.

All around excellent. My only criticism is that the neck might be a little too long and narrow. Doesn't really look like it could support her head. Otherwise great though.

The ring detail is such a sweet touch. Goes wonderfully with the colour palette.
